The Homestead Inn

Home away from home

Hidden in the Potomac Highlands of Wild Wonderful West Virginia

We have aesthetically decorated rooms overlooking a panoramic view of a working farm.  Each room has its own country and farm atmosphere.  Our rooms are equipped with queen-sized beds, telephone, cable TV, AC, compact dining tables and refrigerators.  See and enjoy our bed of roses and landscaped gardens.

Arts and Crafts Gift Shop

Dried floral arrangements and all-season wreaths are highlights of the Homestead craft corner.  We use our own farm products and antiques in the handicraft creations.  Wool, corn shucks, feathers, pine cones, grapevines, and flower crops can be found in the designs made by Mrs. Hedrick in the country setting.

Home of West Virginia Author

The Homestead is home to West Virginia author Helen Groves Hedrick.  Mrs. Hedrick, hostess of the homestead Inn, has published three children's books.   They are stories about life in the West Virginia Mountain Highlands and critters that live on the Homestead Farm.

RATTLESNAKE RIDDLE is about the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.

SIS AND THE SINGING HENS is a heartening story about a lady being penned in a chicken house by the farmer's black Angus bull.

BAAS ON THE BUS is a charming story about saving a mother ewe and her baby lambs during an ice storm by placing them on an old school bus.

Recreational Opportunities

Homestead Inn is in the heartland of West Virginia's Potomac Highlands.  Hunting, trout fishing, rock climbing, hiking, white water rafting, canoeing, gliding, leisurely sightseeing, bird watching, fall foliage observation and photography are enjoyed in the area.
