The cultural center of the tri-county area is the Larry and Joyce Alexander Landes Performing Arts Center. This prestigious facility, comprised of the 300-seat Eugene K. Harr Theatre, the John Wellington Gallery and the Ours Reception Gallery, provides a diversity of performances and exhibits. Music, drama and dance entertain while the work of local students, traveling exhibits or the art of professionals are showcased in the galleries. The center, dedicated in September 2008, is located adjacent to the Moomau Public Library on Mountain View Street and is totally accessible for visitors and performers.

The Center is available to regional non-profit groups and Grant County Schools. It can be rented for private use. It is home to West Virginia Theatre East and the Country Store Opry and local performing groups. The spacious stage and state of the art technology entice excellent performers of all genres. The massive screen provides access to films and the ability to download live programs of cultural interest.

The middle galleries provide space for educational and cultural exhibits and art shows. A collection of paintings of local scenes by John Wellington are housed there. Past exhibits include memorabilia from the West Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame and "John Henry," an exhibit from the West Virginia Humanities Council. The Center also hosted "New Harmonies" from the Smithsonian. A year of programs reflected the theme of this exhibit.

The Center is managed by the Grant County Parks and Recreation Department with additional support from the Grant County Library Commission.
